ICA Fund Good Jobs is pleased to announce that it has named Monica Edwards as its Chief Investment Officer. Edwards will oversee a $2.35M fund that invests in high-impact, job-creating businesses referred by the organization’s education and advisory services. Building on learning from the fund’s first three years in operation, Edwards will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for scaling impact, including fundraising, portfolio investment, and good job creation.
“I am extremely proud that we have reached this pivotal moment of growth,” said Sean Murphy, CEO of ICA Fund Good Jobs. “Now, more than ever, it is critical to approach our work with innovation and experience. This is exactly what Monica brings to the table. Together with ICA Fund Good Jobs’ education, advisory, and acceleration services, Monica’s leadership will ensure the organization’s capital deployment capacity is the equalizing tool that grows small businesses and creates good jobs.”
Edwards brings more than twenty years of experience in lending and community development, and a compelling leadership fit that allowed her to rise to the top of a national executive leadership search that ICA Fund Good Jobs conducted in 2015. Her extensive experience includes loan origination, fund capitalization, and asset management for multiple banks and corporations. Since 2007, she served as President of The Monarch Group, a New Orleans-based consulting firm dedicated to developing and executing economic development solutions.
“We are fortunate to have found someone with Monica’s wealth of leadership and financial experience,” said Jim Harris, Co-Chairman of ICA Fund Good Jobs. “Her impressive background and connection to our mission make her the ideal person to build our investment capacity and scale our impact moving forward.”
“I am thrilled to have found ICA Fund Good Jobs at such an exciting time in its history,” Edwards said. “This team’s passion and dedication to the mission have allowed them to take great strides in the impact investing space. I look forward to building on this momentum to develop a fund that has the capacity to tackle our region’s inequality challenges at scale, and begin to realize our vision of a world in which everyone has a good job.”
ICA Fund Good Jobs was assisted in its search for this position by The 360 Group.
