As 2016 comes to a close, we want to thank you for your support of our mission this past year and over our 20 year history. We look forward to building our momentum in the New Year.
We started 2016 by formally recombining Inner City Advisors and Fund Good Jobs. As one organization, ICA Fund Good Jobs has a unified model to educate, accelerate and invest in local small businesses so they can create accessible good jobs.
Over the course of the year, we recorded a number of “firsts.” We launched our Good Jobs Accelerator and were certified as aCommunity Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Today, we are the first CDFI and the first accelerator explicitly dedicated to the creation of good jobs.
We received our largest grant ever from The James Irvine Foundation, marking a new era of growth for ICA Fund Good Jobs. Our work is gaining recognition and was featured in several publications throughout the year, including Entrepreneur Magazine, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation Magazine, and a white paper created in partnership with theOpportunity Finance Network about the ability of CDFIs to create quality jobs.
Last but not least, we brought our community of supporters together to celebrate our 20th Anniversary at the historic 16th Street Station in West Oakland. The night was an amazing success and a testament to our passionate advisors, to our committed board, our funders, our staff, and of course, our entrepreneurs.
This holiday season, you can help build an equitable community by purchasing gifts and services from local good job creators. I encourage you to check out our 2016 Good Goods local Gift Guide.
If we stick together, we can build a world where everyone has access to a good job.
There is much work to be done, and we look forward to carrying this mission forward in 2017 and over the next 20 years.
