As I take on the role of Interim CEO at ICA I am energized by the work of ICA and Fund Good Jobs to date, and humbled by the opportunity to further extend our impact.
I first joined the ICA family in 2006 as a volunteer when Michael C. Bush introduced me to Jose Corona. Over the next six years, I met some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs I would ever meet and was given the opportunity to grow our portfolio, developing a model for scale as ICA’s COO. It was the work of being on the front lines with our entrepreneurs and advisors which led us to address the issue of access to capital and launch Fund Good Jobs. In just two and a half years, we’ve seen the power of combining business support and capital and have accelerated the ICA and Fund Good Jobs mission.
As interim CEO of ICA and President & Managing Director of Fund Good Jobs, I’m fortunate to be a part of two dynamic organizations driven by a team of fiercely committed leaders. Thanks to the hard work of every person on the ICA and Fund Good Jobs teams, I have no question that the momentum is on our side, and that we are poised to scale our impact. I am particularly thankful for the unparalleled support and guidance of ICA Board Chair, Jack Russi and Fund Good Jobs Board Chair, Jim Harris. It is through their examples, along with the examples of all of our board members and advisors, that we are able to lead our mission forward everyday.
In a world of growing inequality, I’m grounded by my late grandfather’s saying, “Let’s All Stick Together.” I believe “sticking together,” is more critical now than ever. Our work represents a daily opportunity to directly address the injustices and inequities we see in our community; investing in people who create good jobs has the power to do that.
As our organizations continue to move forward together, we will focus on three pillars of our work:
- Our People: Our team, board, advisors, and partners
- Our Entrepreneurs: Fund Good Jobs investment companies and ICA pipeline and education companies
- Our Stakeholders: Our funders and community members
